Stephanie Anderson
Executive Director, Heating & Air Conditioning Contractors of Maryland

Stephanie Anderson has served as Executive Director for HACC since 2011. Under Stephanie’s leadership, the Apprentice Program has grown from a yearly average of 141 students to 339 registered students for the 2023-2024 school year. As a result of her dedication to Apprenticeship in the State of Maryland, in 2021 Governor Larry Hogan appointed her to a 4-year seat on the Maryland Apprentice and Training Council where she actively volunteers her time for the board and several subcommittees.

Stephanie earned her undergraduate degree from Mount Saint Mary’s University, her master’s degree from Loyola University and her IOM Certification from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Stephanie lives in Arnold, Maryland with her husband and two daughters, and spends most of her time watching her daughters play on a sports field.

Thomas Anderson
Lab Coordinator, Carroll Community College and Howard Community College

Thomas Anderson is an accomplished HVACR and gasfitting instructor with a passion for sharing his expertise with the next generation of professionals. At the age of 27, Thomas graduated as class valedictorian, reflecting his dedication and exceptional understanding of the field.

With eight years of hands-on experience in HVACR, he has developed a comprehensive skill set that encompasses both technical and practical aspects of the industry. His journey as a Journeyman HVACR and Gasfitter has equipped him with valuable insights and real-world applications that he brings to the classroom.

Since 2021 when Thomas started working as Lab coordinator, he has inspired students with his engaging teaching style and commitment to their success. He believes in fostering an interactive learning environment where students can thrive and gain the confidence they need to excel in their careers.

Thomas’s enthusiasm for HVACR not only drives his teaching but also motivates students to explore the vast opportunities within the field. His dedication to education and the HVACR industry makes him a vital asset to our trade school community.

John Bonomo
Instructor, Harford County Career and Technical High School and Harford Community College

John Bonomo attended Air-Co Technical institute in 1986–87. Upon graduation, he began working for the Mariott Corporation as HVACR Technician. He then moved to the Department of Defense (DPW) on Aberdeen Proving Ground. While there, he received his my HVACR Master Restricted license and started his own company. In 2000, he turned to teaching and worked toward his master’s degree in CTE Education. He teaches at Harford County Career and Technical High School and has taught Year 3 at Harford Community College for HACC since 2005.

Jack Cauffman
Instructor, Howard Community College

Jacque “Jack” Cauffman has 34 years’ experience in the HVAC Industry. He previously owned an HVAC company and currently works for an HVAC manufacture as a technical service manager. Jack has taught Year 3 at Howard Community College since 2023. His hobbies include boating, surfing, and riding motorcycles.

Carlos Gallardo
Instructor, Howard Community College
Program Manager, ICF

Carlos Gallardo has more than 12 years of experience in the HVAC industry. He has taught since 2019 at HACC. He holds several certifications, including HVAC Journeyman, Journeyman Gasfitter, Universal 608, and Combustion Analyst. Currently, he serves as a Program Manager for ICF, where he leverages his expertise to drive impactful projects. He also has a passion for travel and enjoy exploring diverse cultures around the globe.

John Goodie
Instructor, Cecil College and Cecil County Public Schools, Cecil County School of Technology

John Goodie entered the HVAC trade in 1984 after graduating from Cecil College. He holds a master HVAC license and owned Goodies Refrigeration and Appliances until it closed in 2022. He began teaching for Cecil College’s certificate program in 2014. In 2020 he began teaching for Cecil County Public Schools at Cecil County School of Technology. He became a Year 2 instructor for HACC of MD in 2018.

Josh Hallameyer
Instructor, Harford Community College

Joshua Hallameyer has been in the HVACR industry since 2015, and is a graduate of the HACCMD apprenticeship program. Josh has taught Year 1 since 2018. He has knowledge and expertise in the areas of residential and commercial HVACR. He is also a proctor for the EPA, and conducts training and testing for EPA refrigerant handling certifications.

Charles Hayden
Instructor, Carroll Community College and Howard Community College
President, Hayden Mechanical Services

Charles Hayden is a seasoned HVAC instructor with 37 years of experience in the field. With a specialization in commercial and residential HVAC systems, Charles is dedicated to equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the HVAC industry. Charles holds Maryland and Virginia State HVAC Master license as well as numerous certifications. Charles brings a wealth of practical experience to the classroom. Through engaging lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and real-world projects, Charles fosters a learning environment that prepares students for a successful career in HVAC.

Recognized for outstanding mentorship and guidance of apprentices by the Maryland Department of Labor, Charles is passionate about staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies. By incorporating cutting-edge techniques into the curriculum, Charles ensures that students are well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of the HVAC profession.

Charles Hayden is currently President of Hayden Mechanical Services, and Board of Directors member and Education Chair for HACCMD. He has been a Year 4 instructor for Howard Community College and Carroll Community College since 2016.

Charles is passionate about the outdoors, often spending weekends camping with his horses and friends. He also loves the thrill of riding his Harley Davidson through the winding mountain roads.

Don Jones
Instructor, Harford Community College
Refrigeration Service Manager, EMR

Don Jones Sr. has taught Year 4 at Harford Community College since 2019. He has more than 32 years’ experience in the HVAC/R field. He is Refrigeration Service Manager for EMR Service at the Beltsville location. He holds a Masters in HVAC/R in MD, VA, and DC. He also holds a Journeyman’s MD Gas license. He is a Master Technician for the Commercial Food Equipment Service Association (CFESA). His hobbies include fishing, hunting, archery, and spending time with family.

Dave Keefer
Instructor, Harford Community College
Education Foreman, HACCMD

Dave Keefer is a seasoned Customer Service Manager at Schneider Electric, previously a Mechanical Service Manager. Dave has spent 40+ years in the HVACR Industry. Dave has served as one of our 2nd year instructors at Harford since 2001 and Director for the program since 2014. With his free time Dave enjoys to Camp and cheer on the Ravens.

Joseph Leonard
Instructor, Howard Community College
Senior Technician, Max Air Heating & Air Conditioning

Joe Leonard resides in Pasadena, Maryland, where he works full time as a Senior Technician for Max Air Heating & Air Conditioning. He specializes in residential to light commercial comfort cooling/heating. At the beginning of his HVAC career, he had an opportunity to travel the world building Ice Rinks for Disney on Ice, operating/working on various portable chillers. He began teaching 2nd Year in 2024, and is looking forward to sharing his experience and knowledge. He holds his HVAC Journeyman’s License, Gas Fitter License, and he is NATE certified.

Tom Reese
Instructor, Carroll Community College
Project Manager, Aireco

Tom Reese has been in the HVAC industry for 47 Years. He has served as a third-year instructor for our program at Carroll Community College since 2017. His full-time job is a Product Manager Aireco as an Emerson CTS Technical Specialist. He is a member of RSES Member for 35 years, a Former Vice President Chesapeake Chapter RSES, has been awarded the HACC of MD Joe Kaelin Memorial Award and RSES National Speaker of the Year and Man of the Year RSES Chesapeake Chapter.

Jack Santacroce
Instructor, Howard Community College

With almost 20 years of experience in the HVAC industry, Jack Santacroce brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the classroom at HACC. Holding a Maryland Master HVAC License. He specializes in commercial, residential, and geothermal systems, equipping students with the skills needed for a successful career in this dynamic field. Jack is excited to share his expertise and enthusiasm for HVAC, helping students achieve their goals and thrive in their careers joining us in 2024 to teach year two at Howard Community College.

Jack has a passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation of HVAC professionals, emphasizing practical applications and hands-on experience. He is dedicated to fostering an engaging learning environment, encouraging students to think critically and develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

Outside of the classroom, Jack enjoys spending time with his family/friends, fishing, water sports and boating. Jack is going for his 50-ton Master Captains license this winter. His commitment to lifelong learning is evident in both his professional development and personal pursuits. Jack is excited to share his expertise and enthusiasm for HVAC, helping students achieve their goals and thrive in their careers.

Kent Shamer
Instructor, Carroll Community College

Kent Shamer, has taught Year 2 for HACC since 2023, He also teaches Core, Level 1 and 2 for the Carroll County Career and Technology Center. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Christian Studies, and is finishing up his master’s degree in Career Technology Education in December 2024. He has worked in the heating and cooling industry for 36 years.

Gary Watts
Instructor, Carroll Community College

After serving in the US Navy Gary Watts went into the HVACR industry. He holds his Master Plumbing, Gas and HVACT Licenses. He also has his Geothermal certification, Air Balancing Institute Certification and his CDL Drivers License. He has owned and operated his own company for 45 years and has taught first year at Carroll Community College for 11 years. In his personal life he married his wife for 49 years, has 4 children and 13 grandchildren.

Brian Wilson
Instructor, Harford Community College

Brian Wilson began working for the industry in 1987, finding work with a local heating fuel distributor as a seasonal CDL driver. After becoming a full-time employee, he enjoyed the frequent job of helping in the service department.

A few years later, Brian joined another company looking for opportunity. In the 24 years he remained with Corbin Fuel Company, he worked through each department while attending various classes, taking advantage of every learning opportunity, (including listening to our trade old-timers), eventually reaching a management level position. During this period, he obtained a MD Master HVACR License, a Limited Electrical License, along with many other certifications.

Brian has always enjoyed investing in others. His participation with scouting and various ministries within in his local church provided the experiences and spark that led him to start teaching first year at Harford Community College for HACCMD in 2013.

In 2018, he joined the federal workforce where he continues to learn and grow individually. The transition from primarily residential service to now working with commercial and industrial refrigeration has opened a whole new experience for himself and his students.

In his free time, he enjoys sports, daytrips with his wife, Linda. and spending time with friends and family.

Brian believes that we never finish learning, and each lesson provides another experience we’re able to share with others. As a Year 1 instructor, he takes pride in laying the foundation for students to succeed in work and life.

Trevor Winfelder
Instructor, Harford Community College

Trevor Winfelder has been in the HVAC industry off and on for 15 years. He graduated from the HACC school at Harford Community College, and began teaching for the apprenticeship program in 2024 to give back the knowledge he has learned over the years. Currently, he works for J&J Worldwide Services on APG doing commercial HVAC for highly sensitive lab buildings. He previously did residential new construction service and installation. When he's not working or teaching, he goes to the beach to visit family, I play golf, basketball, and drag racing with his dad and grandfather.
