Apprenticeship Program Instructions

Congratulations on applying to The Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors apprentice program. If you have not submitted the required documents yet, please send them to our office as soon as you can. Your application will not be processed until it is complete. Required documents are:

  • A copy of the applicant’s Maryland State HVACR apprentice license.
    If you do not already have this you can apply for your license with the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation: https://www.dllr.state.md.us/cgi-bin/ElectronicLicensing/HVAC/HVACapprentice1.cgi
  • A doctor’s letter showing that the applicant is physically able to do work in the HVACR industry.
  • A copy of applicant’s high school diploma or transcript of last grade completed.
  • A copy of your Driver’s License
  • Written recommendation letters from three (3) acquaintances. We prefer that only one of these is from a family member.
  • $50.00 application fee.

You must mail or e-mail any missing documents to our office at sanderson@haccmd.org or HACC, P. O. Box 730, Severna Park, MD 21146.

Once your application is processed you will receive a letter in the mail from us. The letter will provide you with the date of your interview/orientation for the program. Interviews will be held on the following dates:


September 14th, 2020 Harford Community College: Dining Room South in the Chesapeake Center at Harford Community College located at 401 Thomas Run Road, Bel Air, MD 21015. Classes for first- and second-year students will be held on Tuesday/Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The first class will be on Tuesday, September 22 in Edgewood Hall 132 at Harford Community College.
September 15th, 2020 Cecil College: Room 125, Cecil County School of Technology (CCST), 912 Appleton Road, Elkton MD 21921. Classes for first- and second-year students will be held on Tuesday/Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The first class will be on Tuesday, September 22 at CCST, in Room 152.
September 16th, 2020 Carroll Community College: Interviews will be held at the HACC Training Facility located at 9635 Liberty Road, Randallstown. MD 21133, Suites K-L. Classes will be held on Tuesday/Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 9:15 p.m. The first class will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd at the HACC Training Facility.
September 17th, 2020 Howard Community College: Interviews will be held at the HACC Training Facility located at 9635 Liberty Road, Randallstown. MD 21133, Suites K-L. The first class will be on Tuesday, September 22nd on the campus of Howard Community College, room to be determined.


Final payment is due by August 28, 2020.
You must pay online or mail a check to our office before the interviews. Click here to pay the registration fee and/or tuition now.


Students are required to have a tablet or a laptop for class. You have an option to purchase a chrome book at check-out. We have negotiated discounted rates for our students and the chrome books come with 2 years of technical support.

Requirements for the tablet or laptop if you want to purchase your own is:

Operating Systems

  • Windows – Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10
  • Macintosh – macOS 10.13, 10.12 / OS X 10.10 -10.11 (High Sierra, Sierra, Yosemite, El Capitan)
  • Chrome – Chrome OS

Hardware Requirements

  • Minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768
  • Minimum: Intel® or AMD® CPU at 1.8 GHz or better / 1 GB of RAM
  • Recommended: Intel® CPU at 2.0 GHz or better / 4 to 8 GB of RAM
In case you were not aware, students who earn or have earned a completion from our program are eligible to receive college credits for our training! Here are the details:

Carroll Community College - All students who earn a completion from our program, this is both passing the classes and turning in their 8,000 hours, are eligible to earn college credit. Carroll Community College will credit our students with 24 credits towards an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree.

Harford Community College - All students who earn a completion from our program, this is both passing the classes and turning in their 8,000 hours, are eligible to earn college credit. Harford Community College will credit our students with 21 credits towards an Associate of Applied Sciences degree. 10 credits will be applied to the Technical Professional Electives and 11 will be applied to the Core Technical Professional Courses.

For both these opportunities, the students can have attended classes at any of our locations. All students who completed our program requirements are eligible for these benefits.
